Mancos, Colorado

Mancos is a launching pad for visits to many cultural, recreational and historical sites in the area.

This small old west town offers a variety of eateries, shops and galleries, including one of the oldest continuously operating saloons in Colorado. Accommodations are varied — stay in town, camp out or rent a yurt at Mancos State Park, or relax close-by in country cabins, dude ranches or B&Bs that offer fabulous views, gardens and sparkling lakes.

Mancos is definitely a place "where the old west meets the new" — where artists, artisans, musicians and ranchers all practice their traditions in gorgeous surroundings. Take a horseback ride or witness a cattle drive. Louis L'Amour fans can explore the countryside where the author penned many of his books — or stop by the Visitors Center and locate your favorite novel on a unique hand painted map of "Louis L'Amour Country". Visitors often complain they planned too little time in this charming town. So relax and stay awhile.
