Crow Canyon Archaeological Center is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to long-term archaeological research on the Ancestral Puebloan occupation of the Mesa Verde region.

A visit to Crow Canyon provides an excellent glimpse at the life of the Ancestral Puebloans and a broader understanding of archaeology. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, from June to September, Crow Canyon offers a one-day program (open to individuals, groups, or families) that features a tour of a working excavation site. The tour also includes a hands-on activity with artifacts that demonstrates the chronology of the Ancestral Puebloans and provides insight into their complex culture. A tour of the laboratory and curation room reveals the methods by which artifacts are documented and stored.

Crow Canyon also offers week-long excavation programs and cultural explorations, "learning adventures for life-long students", that focus on some of the Southwest's most significant cultural sites.

VISITING CROW CANYON

Crow Canyon is located Northwest of Cortez, CO. It is necessary to make reservations in advance for their one-day program. A fee is charged for the program and includes lunch.
