Skiing in Mesa Verde Country^®

Cross-country or downhill, some of the best skiing in Colorado is found in Mesa Verde Country®. A cross-country skiers paradise, Mesa Verde Country® offers some of the best and most unusual cross-county skiing available.

Your options include skiing above Ancestral Puebloan sites, or in spectacular, remote mountain country. Trails range from well maintained double tracks to trail-breaking opportunities into the high country. And best of all, the trails are free!

During your stay in Mesa Verde Country®, you're also only a short drive from world-class downhill skiing. Just 1 1/2 hours away is Telluride Ski Resort. Telluride's ski slopes, with 12 lifts carrying skiers over 1,050 skiable acres, are not crowded, and the terrain offers something for everyone from beginner slopes to expert trails. Telluride also features a snowboard park created for intermediate and advanced snowboarders.

SKIING TIPS & ETIQUETTE

When skiing in Mesa Verde Country® please remember to:

1. Be aware of hazards: Avalanches · Storms · Hypothermia

2. Dress warmly and carry energy foods.

3. Use established sanitation facilities where possible, otherwise relieve oneself well away from established trails.

4. Avoid disturbing wildlife.

5. Pack out your trash.

6. Leave your dog at home, particularly when using maintained trails.
